22 was a little too young to die,

a lot of people ask god why he chose her on this day,
but who are we to question god remember he works in a mysterious way.
Aaliyah did what she had to do no matter sunshine or rain,
now i just wish i could bring her back and push away the pain.

Her life had just began.
January 16, 1979
was that very special day,
that her mother knew it was time.
It was time for this young lady
to be all she can be
if a heart was ever locked
she would always have the key.
Debuted at age 15,
but "AGE AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A NUMBER".
Two upcoming movies, a new video, and CD
this was a very, very busy summer.
She wanted to "ROCK THE BOAT"
so she left to the Bahamas.
After she was done with that
it was off to Opa-Locka.
It was nine on a small plane
only one made it through,
but it wasn't our beloved ACE

Whos that girl going over there?
Its the L-I-Y-A-H, her musics been flowing everywhere.
Singing so softly, like whispering in your ear,
Coy glances, an occasional smile,
God created an angel when he made Aaliyah,
Dancing so immaculate, hot like fire,
Boys fantasized about being with her, girls wanted to be just like her.
But now shes gone,

Like a star in a dark sky
So you came into my life
And each phase in life I had to undergo,
You were always there with me
Guiding me through them all with your songs.
Your star illuminated my dark sky, my dark, dark
world.
But before I had the chance to say "Liyah thank you",
You were gone.
Like a thief in the night, death came and stole you
away
Why did you have to leave so suddenly?
You were so young and beautiful.
So talented, always full of life.
Yet, you left so quietly.
Never giving me the chance to say how much,
You affected my life.

I wrote this poem the nite i found out about Aaliyah'd death, it still seems like 5 minutes ago since the sun rose on such a beautiful life, but even though i wrote this a while ago it still applies to how i am feelin nearly like 2 months on....

Tears are tumbling down my cheeks,
Still trying to stop myself from crying,

Im already losing myself, so much pain to keep inside me.
Dont want to do anything, everything is nothing without you
Time goes by and I am still waiting for you to come back,
Im falling out of place, but still trying to stand
Calling your name but no-one answers, I just want to know if your doing ok
